Mondesa Youth Opportunities

We are serious about education!

We’re Addressing The Problem

Mondesa Youth Opportunities, a non-profit trust, is dedicated to providing comprehensive educational support to talented students from underprivileged schools.

Namibia’s schools face the challenges of overcrowding, inadequate funding, and a lack of effective leadership. Within these crowded classrooms, capable students often get overshadowed by repetitive failures, leading to a loss of potential.

Our mission is to foster leadership abilities and instil the values of responsible citizenship in our learners, equipping them for a brighter future.

Memorandum of Understanding with Ministry of Education

Mondesa Youth Opportunities (MYO) has established a significant partnership with the Ministry of Education, Arts, and Culture, as evidenced by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This MoU recognizes MYO’s commitment to providing additional classes in English, Mathematics, Reading, Computer Skills, Library resources, Sports, and Music to 120 learners in grades 4 to 8.

The collaboration between MYO and the Ministry aims to enhance the educational opportunities available to students in the Erongo region and throughout Namibia. By offering extra classes in various subjects, MYO supports the academic development and skills acquisition of these learners, supplementing their regular school curriculum.

Additionally, MYO operates an alumni program, providing ongoing support and engagement for former learners. This program enables continued connection and assistance for those who have benefited from MYO’s educational initiatives.

Recognizing the importance of teacher training, MYO collaborates with the Ministry to provide professional development opportunities for educators. These training sessions aim to enhance teaching methodologies, promote effective pedagogical practices, and empower teachers to deliver high-quality education to their students.

Volunteers, although uncompensated, play a crucial role at MYO. Placed within the organization, these volunteers contribute their time, skills, and expertise to support various aspects of MYO’s programs and activities. Their dedication helps enrich the learning experiences and overall development of the students.

The Directorate of Education, Arts, and Culture serves as a liaison between MYO, schools, and parents. Their role includes facilitating the release of learners to attend MYO’s after-school program and encouraging teachers to participate in the training sessions offered by MYO.

This collaborative effort between MYO, the Ministry of Education, Arts, and Culture, and other partners underscores the shared commitment to provide the very best educational opportunities to the children of Erongo and Namibia as a whole. By working together, these stakeholders aim to foster academic excellence, holistic development, and a brighter future for the students served by MYO.
